why training people back to health is so important to us

Meet Neil, our Head Trainer. Listen to his story about his road to recovery from an undiagnosed aortic Aneurysm, which erupted into aortic dissection and after 16 hours of open-heart surgery led to; multi-organ failure; 3 weeks in an induced coma and paralysis, sepsis, and how he had to learn to
stand up and walk again.

When Neil finally returned home, his wife had to rent a wheelchair to get him from the car to hospital appointments. The family took the wheelchair on walks to the park where initially just a 50meter walk took 20 minutes. After completing his Cardiac Rehabilitation at Barnet General Hospital Neil continued his journey to full health at Oxygen Fit, with the support of the Personal
Trainers and his family.

He’s back Training clients himself again and would love to help you make a positive recovery with your healthy lifestyle journey.

You can book your complimentary consultation with Neil, so you can start living a healthy life

We understand how frustrating it can be “ not feeling like your ‘normal’ self, and know how important it is for you to recover, by doing something about it.

Here’s why training people back to health is so important to us…

It is well documented that the right exercise improves lifestyle and health.  The NHS states https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/exercise-health-benefits/ that exercise “can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and cancer and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%”.

They say “Exercise is the miracle cure we’ve always had, but for too long we’ve neglected to take our recommended dose. Our health is now suffering as a consequence.”

The NHS goes on to write “Whatever your age, there’s strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life.

People who exercise regularly have a lower risk of developing many long-term (chronic) conditions, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some cancers.

Physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality, and energy, as well as reduce your risk of stress, clinical depression, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Given the overwhelming evidence, it seems obvious that we should all be physically active. It’s essential if you want to live a healthy and fulfilling life into old age. It’s medically proven that people who do regular physical activity have a lower risk of:

  • coronary heart disease and stroke
  • type 2 diabetes
  • bowel cancer
  • breast cancer in women
  • early death
  • osteoarthritis
  • hip fracture
  • falls (among older adults)
  • depression
  • dementia
