Having been involved with sport for the best part of 40 years, I have seen many gyms in London over the years and I believe Oxygen Fit is by far the best gym I have been to. In fact, in my opinion, it sets a new standard. Oxygen Fit is outstanding, not because of the high tech equipment or because of opulent surroundings but because they really care about you as an individual. Over the last 20 years and following a serious injury, my health had greatly deteriorated and I have been taking medicine to control high blood pressure for at least 15 years and recently been started on medication for Diabetes. After attending Oxygen Fit for only 4 months I have lost weight, my blood pressure has dropped, my strength has increased and I can feel myself becoming fitter. Even my friends have commented on the difference in me! Last week my Cardiologist told me that I should now start to reduce my medication and I hope that it will not be long before I will not have to take any medication at all.

I thought I was ‘fit enough’, and always had a million excuses why exercise wouldn’t fit into my busy life of working and managing my family! My best excuse was ‘if only there was a gym next to the pool at Church Farm I would go whilst my daughter was having her weekly swimming lessons’. Neil and Emma called my bluff big time by opening OF, and that was the beginning of a new exercise regime for me! It couldn’t have come at a better time, after I’d been off my feet for 8 weeks following foot surgery. They’ve helped me to get back into the exercise habit and have also helped me to get my foot strong again, safely. I call it ‘my gym’ because I feel as if I’m personally cared for by all the staff, who know my name, know my routines, encourage me to keep going and to try new things. I don’t feel out of place, or only part of a crowd. I know that I can ask for advice and help from anyone there at any time, and they keep an eye on me to make sure I’m working out effectively and safely. I feel at home and cared for, that you are glad to see me. I’m very proud of my number 34 membership card! It means I was in right from the start!”

The classes I do are great but it was really good to do different ones while I was on holiday from school. I especially enjoyed Neil’s Body Conditioning. It is also nice when a class is taken by a different instructor, such as Emma for LBT. Paul is a great personal instructor and has really helped me in my quest to become fit and has given me great advice on how to get the best from my visits to the gym. The best thing about Oxygen Fit is the atmosphere as everyone is really helpful and friendly and there is not the competitiveness you get in other gyms. I’ve never been a member of a gym before because i thought i was too young to join, but oxygen fit has given me the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of a gym and how it can improve your body not just physically but mentally. Oxygen fit is a friendly community, with no posers trying to make you feel awkward by flexing in front of the mirrors. You never have to wait for a machine and the machines are top quality and in excellent condition. There is also a great variety of free-weights to choose from as well. All of the instructors are top professionals who are very keen in their job, are extremely friendly and are always willing to help. I joined Oxygen Fit nearly four months ago. As soon as I was shown around Oxygen Fit I knew it was what I was looking for – a small gym but big on personal care and attention. I absolutely love it there … yes, sometimes, like every one, I have to drag myself out of bed to go there but once I’m there the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff becomes contagious and I get the fire back in my belly and always have a great workout. The induction process was fantastic in that I had three personal training sessions to assess my level of fitness, discuss what I wanted to achieve and to introduce me to new training regimes and exercises. Because I felt that I was really listened to, I decided to book a further course of personal training sessions. Paul was great – he always took time to check how I was, listened to what I wanted to achieve and was conscientious and hard working. All too soon they came to an end … but I’ll save my money up and be booking him again! The classes are varied and fun and all the staff work hard to ensure that everyone gets individual attention whatever their level of fitness. My daughter Kaitlin Eve [age 12] joined a short while ago and she has been amazed at the level of care afforded to her. Her comments when I picked her up yesterday were “I love it there, Mum; the staff are so friendly and make me feel part of the gym. I don’t feel intimidated or embarrassed in any way and the staff are all approachable”. I agree totally with her sentiments. All the staff are professional, hardworking, friendly and above all incredibly good fun. They genuinely care for each member as a person rather than a number… I am so glad I found this gym.
